Terms of Service

Welcome to GetClipped. By creating an account or using the Service at getclipped.live, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use GetClipped.

1. What GetClipped is

GetClipped is an online marketplace where content creators (“Creators”) post jobs and hire video editors (“Clippers”) to produce short-form clips from their long-form footage. We provide the platform — discovery, messaging, delivery, payments — but the working agreement on each job is between the Creator and the Clipper.

2. Eligibility & accounts

• You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use GetClipped.
• You must give accurate information when signing up and keep your account information current.
• You're responsible for keeping your password secret and for everything that happens under your account.
• One account per person. Don't impersonate someone else.

3. How the marketplace works

Posting jobs (Creators)

Creators post job briefs with budget, scope, turnaround and platform targets. Job descriptions must be accurate and not misleading. Once posted, jobs are visible to all Clippers on the marketplace.

Submitting auditions (Clippers)

Clippers may submit a proposal — a short audition clip plus a per-clip rate — for any open job. By submitting, you grant the Creator the right to review the audition for the purpose of evaluating the proposal.

Acceptance & delivery

When a Creator accepts a proposal, the job moves to in-progress and (if payment is enabled) the Creator's payment is held in escrow. The Clipper delivers the agreed clips through the platform. The Creator confirms delivery, which releases payment to the Clipper.

Ratings

After a job completes, both sides can leave a rating and comment. Ratings must be honest and based on the actual working relationship.

4. Payments & fees

When payments are enabled, all Creator-to-Clipper payments are processed through Stripe Connect using an escrow flow:

• The Creator's payment is captured when the proposal is accepted.
• Funds are held until the Creator confirms delivery (or until our standard auto-release window expires after delivery is submitted).
• GetClipped retains a 10% platform fee on each transaction; the remainder transfers to the Clipper.
• Refunds are handled case-by-case if the Clipper fails to deliver or delivers materially below the agreed brief.

You're responsible for any taxes that apply to your earnings or purchases.

5. Content & intellectual property

Your content

You retain ownership of the footage you upload (Creators) and the clips you produce (Clippers). By uploading content to GetClipped you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, transcode, watermark, and display that content for the sole purpose of operating the Service.

Clip ownership on completed jobs

Once a Creator confirms delivery and payment is released, the Creator receives full rights to use the delivered clips for their own promotional and commercial purposes. The Clipper retains the right to feature the work in their portfolio unless the Creator requests otherwise in writing.

Source footage

Creators must have the right to share any footage they upload. Don't upload content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, or other rights.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Post jobs or content that's illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or violates third-party rights
• Try to circumvent the platform — e.g. negotiating off-platform to avoid the platform fee after meeting through GetClipped
• Submit fake auditions, leave fake ratings, or create multiple accounts to game the marketplace
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to interfere with the Service
• Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited messages

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

7. Disputes between Creators and Clippers

We encourage parties to resolve issues directly. If you can't, contact hello@getclipped.live and we'll review the messages, deliveries, and any other evidence on the job, and make a fair call. Our decision on whether to release escrow, refund, or split funds is final at this stage of the product.

8. Termination

You may close your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that puts other users or GetClipped at risk. Provisions that should survive termination (IP licences for already-delivered work, payment obligations, limitation of liability) will continue to apply.

9. Disclaimers

GetClipped is provided “as is” and “as available”. We don't guarantee that any specific Creator will hire any specific Clipper, or that any clip will achieve a particular outcome on any platform. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GetClipped's total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the platform fees you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $100.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When the changes are material, we'll notify active users by email and update the “last updated” date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes that can't be resolved informally will be handled by the courts of Cape Town.
